The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic university is the state university of joint submission of Kyrgyz Republic and Russia, enters into Association of the Russian universities.
The first reception of 200 students has been organized in September, 1993. Four years later, in 1997, took place the first protection of final baccalaureate works, in a year, in 1998, - the first protection of degree works. In short of university still more many the first...

Opening ceremony of university took place on September, 9th, 1993. This day the former President of Kyrgyz Republic Mr. A.A.Akaev together with Ministers for Foreign Affairs and formations of Russia and Kyrgyz Republic has handed over a symbolical key from university to rector V.I.Nifadev.

Members of the governments of both countries, Russia and Kyrgyz Republic have taken part in ceremony, representatives of a diplomatic corps of Russia accredited in Kyrgyz Republic, delegation of the Russian enterprises. The intergovernmental contract according to which Kyrgyz Republic and Russia " have divided among themselves parental duties " in relation to the child-university has been signed.

The decree of the former President of Kyrgyz Republic Mr. A.Akaev from September, 28th, 1992 " About establishment in Bishkek the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University " has defined the basic directions of activity and a structure of high school: training of youth of Kyrgyz Republic and Russia to modern specialties in humanitarian, is natural-technical, economic and legal directions, satisfaction of language and cultural needs of Russian-speaking citizens of republic. The decree aimed at close bilateral cooperation of two states with participation in educational activity of visible scientists and teachers from Russia which could assist development of scientific and technical potential of Kyrgyz Republic, to creative contacts the Kyrgyz and Russian cultures.

From first years of the life at university there is a hard work on attraction highly skilled pedagogical and science officers, the organization of modern educational-laboratory base, to equipment of educational process by computer techniques, creation at faculties of specialized laboratories, the centers, cabinets. The university has an output in a global information network the Internet, providing to teachers and students information interchange with all world. KRSU has concluded agreements of cooperation with a number of leading universities of Russia, Europe and Asia.

The greater role in the organization of educational-scientific activity KRSU is played with the Academic council, the Scientific and technical advice including Advice on information, educational-methodical advice.

Work on creation on the basis of KRSU a uniform educational-scientific complex is spent. For this purpose a number of contracts with educational, scientific and industrial establishments of Kyrgyz Republic, the educational on effective utilization educational and scientific capacities, the scientific and pedagogical staff and improvement of quality of preparation of students is signed. As a result of expansion of a network of the educational-scientific and cultural organizations in KRSU have appeared: scientific institutes and the centers, high school, art gallery, a historical museum, student's clubs, faculty of culture and other structures.

At this moment there are 8 faculties, 6 Scientific Institutes, 15 scientific and educational centers, 4 laboratories, judicial center, medical center and 25 center for ethic.
At this moment total students of the university is 10444.

At university there is a library with 3 branches in various educational cases, the Computer centre, the Research center, the Centre of science-innovative of fundamental and applied problems, a department of postgraduate study and other structures.
The Library consists of more then 1 million books, and electronic materials and journals.
Every year the polygraphy center of KRSU publishes more then 580 books and journals.
The KRSU has it's own radio channel.
